The Lighthouse Monumental La Serena (''Faro Monumental de La Serena'') is a Chilean lighthouse located at Avenida del Mar city of La Serena. The structure is characterized by the symbol of public recognition of the city, one of the most representative and popular tourist attractions in the area. ==Construction== It was built between 1950 and 1951 at the request of President Gabriel González Videla called Serena in the Plan. The work was designed by Ramiro Pérez Arce and directed by Jorge Tanks Larenas civil engineer. In April 1953 it was officially handed over to the authorities, led by Mayor Ernesto Aguirre Valín, the provincial mayor Roberto Flores Alvarez and Gabriel González Videla president. The October 24, 1953 this structure was inaugurated by Mayor Juan Cortés Alcayaga of the Municipality of La Serena, then your lighting system was removed, leaving in charts and publications serving as notable point to make reference.
